an update...

So the structure of the piece has become set, and so we are working on refining things. I am searching for people willing to talk about their family/past. I will be using them for voice samples in the piece... even tho most of the time you cannot hear what a given person is saying somehow I believe that it will give more meaning than the samples I've been using. Meaning by osmosis or something! Well, more seriously, I think the words one does catch or tone of voice could convey something, even i… Continue

rehearsal lasraeher

Decided to tape several contact mics to the floor instead of put one in a shoe... it works a lot better. Eve & I made some extra contact mics... Found this link a few days ago and got the idea to make them. Easy enough, although I cut my thumb pretty badly… Continue

rehearsal after hiatus, etc.

hmmm, belated first entry.

As a performer, I was trying to respond to Raph (the dancer) and also trying to create things and see if she would react to them. I think that I am limited by my software, which I am still developing, and having to keeping looking at the computer screen instead of the dancing. Question about mixing pre-recorded sound .. what are other folks doing?

Hi all,

I still am not sure what to do with the pre-recorded sound for Nate and my video. Should I get it professionally mixed? I just don't want it to sound terrible in the theater - not sure what to do - I don't have pro-tools - just imovie and garageband.

What are some of the rest of you doing? Are you just using your own computers and if so, what tools do you use?

i hope this is an appropriate question for this ning site -- i guess i'm getting worried...

hope that's ok,

jane
